6 Months Pregnant

23 & 24 Week Update

Wow!  6 months pregnant already.  Time has sure been flying.  The last couple of weeks have been a struggle for working out because of a couple issues.  My lower back went out of alignment on the Thursday right before Superbowl and I could hardly move.  It was extremely painful and I had to make a couple of chiropractor appointments to get it adjusted.  Wonder what crazy activity I was doing to cause my lower back problem?  Bending down to get a fork out of the dishwasher.  I know pretty lame right?baby bump 24 weeks

Lower Back Pain

My chiropractor suggested I take it a little easier in my workouts to prevent my back from getting worse. It still is tight and hurts off and on, but not nearly as bad as the Thursday morning when it first happened. When you are pregnant your ligaments and joints loosen up and this is probably why I am starting to have some issues with my lower back.

Round Ligament Pain

The other issue I am having is called round ligament pain.  This pain has been on my lower right side and occurs first thing when I get out of bed and then when I am walking for a distance greater than a couple hundred feet.  I was worried when I first had the pain, but today I went to the doctor and he confirmed it was normal and okay.  The pain should go away eventually when my ligament stretches out.

Doctors Appointment

My doctors appointment today was quick.  I told him about my pain on my lower right side.  We talked about this for a couple of minutes.  He then listened to the our baby’s heartbeat.  My next appointment is not with my doctor, but it will be a glucose tolerance test.  This is to see how my body responds to a lot of sugar and if I have gestational diabetes.  The doctor gave me a drink with 50 grams of sugar.  On the morning of my appointment I am supposed to eat a protein for breakfast and no sugars.  Then 2 hours later drink the sugary drink mix and go to the doctor a half hour later to get my blood drawn.  I will have an update for you all in about 3 weeks on how this test goes.

Fun Facts About Being 24 Weeks Pregnant

Here are some fun facts about being 24 weeks pregnant.  My uterus is about the size of a soccer ball.  My 24 weeks pregnatbaby is about 12 inches long, weighs about 1 1/3 pounds and is about the size of a cantaloupe.  He is kicking and moving quite a bit and I can feel him often.  He sleeps about 12-14 hours a day.  I have to pee all the time and I feel huge.
